Our Giving

At the Good Faith Church we practice “Grace Giving.” Christians are to give “as God has prospered us,” according to the New Testament teachings. The tithe (10%) can be used as a metric for giving but New Testament giving is based on our love forGod (I Corinthians 16: 1-2) which exceeds the tithe.

Our Statement of Faith

There is one God who is revealed in three persons God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church.

The virgin birth of Christ, the eternal Son of God, who died for our sins, was resurrected the third day, and is coming back.

The Bible is God’s Word and truth without mixture of error.

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone.

History

The Good Faith Baptist Church’s history lies with four families who, in 1981, began a weekly Bible study held in their various homes. In August of that same year, that study resulted in the organization of a local congregation in Plano, Texas. In August of 1981 the church congregation moved to Mendenhall Elementary School for Sunday services. During this time the name of the church changed to Progressive Good Faith Baptist Church and the church became non-denominational. In October 1982 the original name was reinstated and the church was incorporated and bylaws were written. During the period of February 1983, Billy Stimpson was installed as founding pastor. In April 1984, the membership moved to a storefront location. The membership later moved to its present location, 1024 Avenue F. Themembership purchased this property and retired all indebtedness.

In February 2003, Herbert L. Walters, Sr to succeed Pastor Billy Stimpson as pastor. Herbert Walters delivered his first sermon as pastor on the second Sunday of February 2003. Pastor Walters has inaugurated a number of ministries with a passion to reach the local community. One of his current goals is to lead the church in the purchase of a modern facility from which to minister. The Lord is preparing us to do a mighty and glorious work for Him as we move forward to develop new and innovative programs to enhance our ministry. We are building to the glory and honor of God, so that His kingdom will come and His Divine will, be done.
